The guitar is the focal point that really makes this costume. The leather bag is useful add on to carry both in game and out of game items. Check thrift stores and garage sales for old leather purses.
The maroon headscarf and the tie dyed waist sash coordinate with the rest of the group and easily identify him as a Wanderer. Scarves can be found at lots of stores, or you can make your own, as they are just long pieces of fabric.
A simple vest references a doublet or similar over garment, but in a Wanderer appropriate and economic fashion.
The basics. A period style shirt and cargo pants. Yes, cargo pants. You probably already have a pair in your closet. If you like to sew, there are patterns for period style shirts available online, or at your local fabric store. If buying a shirt is more to your liking, check out our Garb links.
Building a Group
It is a lot of fun to roleplay as part of a tight-knit group. Everyone shown here in the Chervoniy Clan coordinated with each other to plan their costumes. With maroon and red as the main accent color and neutrals for all of the other garments except for a few splashes of purple, they advertise that they are a distinctive Clan. When you build a group dynamic together this way, people will recognize that you belong to it even when your characters are separated.
A group look will take on different forms in different cultures. For example a group of players may choose to portray a knight and his household, so they would all dress in similar livery. Even if you don’t have a group of friends who are starting to play at the same time as you, there may be an existing group that you can join. Talk to people on the forums or come out to an event and look around for a group that you think your character would fit in well with.

The most involved of our Wanderer costumes, this costume is completely homemade/assembled.
Jewlery and accessories add a lot to dress up a look or add racial attributes. We’ve added ceramic horns to show that this Wanderer is Satyr Kin. Lots of costume jewelry - earrings, necklace, hairwraps and a broach round out the accessories.
The bra, belt and choli top are a standard bellydancing pattern that can be found online. The choli top and belt are constructed out of upholstery fabric and trim, with added beads and yarn tassels. The bra is a standard bra with added upholstery trim.
The skirt is a circle and a half, which means that it really flows well when she spins in it. This particular skirt has slits in the front, but it can be constructed without them. This is a simple pattern, don’t be afraid to to try it even as a beginner. Check out some of these sites to get ideas about sewing your own costume pieces.
